Summer in the City

Just a quick post to touch base and let you know what we’re up to.

We’d like to thank those who took the time to show their support for Montreal’s TSN Radio 990 by contacting the CRTC. We appreciate it, and we know for a fact that our friends at CKGM appreciate it too.

Are you enjoying your summer? Why not comment on this post and tell us what you’ve been up to.

We’re gearing up for this year’s version of Tropical Hot Dog Night, taking place on August 25th. We’d love to have you there, but unfortunately it’s a private party.

Following that, we’ll be shooting a music video for our song “Sleepwalking” on Labour Day weekend. And once again, it’ll be a private affair at a top-secret location.

One thing you can attend is our next show which is happening on Friday September 7th at Quai des Brumes in Montreal. The perfect remedy to your provincial election blues. The best part about this show is that we get to share the stage with our old and dear friends The Unsettlers. It has been too long so we’ve played a show together …

One final note: if you have any friends of family in Vancouver, you should let them know that David is spending some time out there this week and managed to book a few gigs. Visit this Facebook page for dates and venues, and spread the word!

Nous sommes les Patenteux

So a couple of weeks ago someone I know alerted me to the fact that our song “Sleepwalking” was played on the Radio-Canada program “C’est bien meilleur le matin“. This is essentially the equivalent to Daybreak on Montreal’s CBC Radio 1.

It turns out one of the hosts, Philippe Marcoux, read last month’s article in the Montreal Gazette, sought us out, and liked our music. Go figure.

Among the highlights of the conversation about us on the program was what is now the official translation of “The Jimmyriggers”. En français, nous sommes les Patenteux!

Well, not really. We’ll still go by the english name. But at least now we have a way of describing in french what exactly a Jimmyrigger is.

You can listen to the whole thing here (fast forward to the 22-minue mark):

C’est bien meilleur le matin

Have a great week everybody!
