I’m going to keep this post brief because there really isn’t much to say, and I really don’t feel like waxing too philosophical about the fact that it’s been 18 months since we’ve actually played at Grumpy’s Bar, despite the fact that outside our normal operating hours – more skewed for some in the band than for others – it’s usually the place to spot us having a drink, watching a show, playing darts or trivia, joining in the moonshine jam, chatting with friends, and just feeling at home.
And you know a lot has happened in this past year and a half, including the release of “I Stand in the Weeds“, successful tours of the Maritimes and Ontario, and a some big shows with tons of positive reviews. But again, pointing out things like it was one year ago this past Saturday that we opened for CCR at Jarry Park is not the point I’m trying to make with this post…
Rather, what pleases us is that we’ve been asked to be the local support for two really great bands from Ontario: The Shotgun Wedding Band, and Dany Laj & The Looks.
These two solid rock combos are on a joint three-day tour taking them on a short spin around the block from Toronto, through Montreal, up to Ottawa and then back home. The Montreal show finds them at Grumpy’s Bar on Friday June 8 and we’ve been asked to fill in the middle slot of the line up and bring out the local crowd. So here’s a chance for our fans and friends at home to show them just how much we love our live music.
If you’re a Grumpy’s regular – and if you’re reading this then odds are you are – then you know to be there by 10 pm and to stay until the very end. Oh, and if you’re not a Grumpy’s regular but still want to come to the show, you can find it at 1242 Bishop Street.
We can’t wait to see you all, once again from the vantage point of one of the best stages in the city. Have a great week everybody and see you Friday night, back home at Grumpy’s.
